The question lately for me has been to use Flash in webdesign or not. My response lately to people has been to shy away from it. At least until Apple does something about it.
I have several design apps I use for both web and print. As a graphic designer these apps come in very handy, and help keep my freelance life sane. Here is just my top 5. If you have some favorite apps please let me know.
As the economy worsens what is going to happen to jobs. As a freelnace/contract person I have noticed a lot of questions about how do I get freelance work in this economy.

I have been continuing to design the materials for IStart. Just completed the letter that goes out to all incoming freshman to let them know what they need to do before they come. The Agenda for the Orientation and Class registration is on its way to the printer this week. Things are going good with this years IStart publications. The design is adapting itself very well to all kinds of different forms. The circle design is very flexible whether I am putting it on a flyer or postcard or even the giant folder project. I am very happy and pleased with it.

I am in the middle of updating and redesigning the IStart folder for New Student Programs at the University of Illinois. It is to be used as a tool for informing and equipping new students who will come for Summer Registration Orientation.
Learning how to Program

A few days ago I started to teach myself how to program. I am beginning with PHP and MySQL. I figure if I learn how to do programing it will help me with my webdesign. I figured these two work together so well that I would start with them. If anyone has any suggestions or tips please let me know.
New Business Cards

My new business cards just came yesterday. They look pretty cool. Thanks to Noupe and Allbusinesscards.com for getting me free business cards. There are also samples of these in my portfolio. The design I came up with works very well. Some people didn’t like the picture, but that didn’t stop me from using it. I like using gray in my designs which is now on the business cards and my website.

I recently entered a contest on Noupe.com for free 1,000 business cards. Somehow I won. I don’t know the last time I won a drawing (picked from a hat) contest. Wait a minute, that would be never. I needed some new business cards ever since I moved. So thanks to Noupe.com and Allbusinesscards.com for this opportunity. Noupe has a lot of great info and freebies for graphic designers.
